Can Afrika really rally together to transform the continent? Do we have it in us to support each other and help one another grow, overcome, and gain victory over our various challenges? Is everything we have been talking about: seeing the issues on the continent as Afrikan issues, uniting to face them, working together… is all this a fantasy? Is it some kind of self-deception? It is not a deception of any kind and yes we do have it in us to be a united and collaborative Afrika. The precedent set by Sir Tafawa Balewa, the first Prime Minister of Nigeria in creating the Southern Africa Relief Fund and rallying generations of leaders and citizens to contribute to it willingly, without coercion in order to free South Afrika from the clutches of Apartheid reassures us that we can do this. We just need to start.
